You can often hear foreigners say that Chinese culture is confusing. As far as I am concerned, our culture is a spiritual font and also a doctrine to turn to for support. Truly let it be said that Chinese culture emphasizes the importance of the depth of involvement with one’s family, work, romance and hobbies as the road to satisfied happy life. In brief, thanks to large influence of Chinese culture on me, I am a balanced and focused individual who hopes to use my personal abilities to serve some greater goal. I believe this goal lies within science and is one of the reasons why I want to enroll for a graduate degree in the biological sciences. I am convinced that my life's work is to explore cutting-edge Science. The Chinese proverb teaches that mind, not the wallet, is the path to contentment.

There is a Chinese proverb that teaches that ‘the mind, not the wallet, is the path to contentment’. The spiritual culture in China has served as a great doctrine to follow during my life. I intend to follow these principles in my career and use my strengths and abilities to serve a goal; to push the boundaries of our knowledge for the greater good of mankind. I hope to pursue a degree in the Biological Sciences and to allow research to become my life’s work. My path to contentment will be found in scientific discovery.
